So clear water !

A single boat seemingly floats in midair in the beautiful crystal clear beaches in the Republic of Maldives in the Indian Ocean.

Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean, south of Lakshadweep group of islands of India, about seven hundred kilometers (435 mi) south-west of Sri Lanka. The twenty-six atolls encompass a territory featuring 1,192 islets, roughly two hundred of which are inhabited by people.

The country's name may stand for "Mountain Islands" (malai in Tamil, meaning "mountain" and teevu in Tamil meaning "island") or it might mean "a thousand islands". Maldives is the smallest Asian country in terms of population, and the smallest Asian country that is a member of the United Nations.

It's cause they don't polute their seas like the rest of the world do! -_-

i think you mean like the rest of the world does...

Photoshopped, Look at the ball, it has a reflection, and the boat doesn't... It isn't because of pollution, its because of the Salt, and the type of rock/sand.

Anonymous said...

umm... actually the boat does have a reflection...

i'm surprised you didn't notice...

Anonymous said...

sorry, but it is photoshopped. If you'll notice the ripples in the water you'll see that the boat isn't causing them to fracture or fragment, thereby creating what would appear to be more ripples from the boat. This would occur if the photo was authentic.

I guess I will have to go there to find out

mic is right. The boat has no reflection. The boat DOES have a shadow like the ball does but it does not have a REFLECTION like the ball does.

Have to say that photo is NOT Photoshopped. I shoot with film cameras and I use filters a lot. The reason the boat doesn't appear to have a reflection is because the photographer used a polorizing filter that pretty much removes reflection from an object at closer range and at that angle. You see reflection on the ball because of a different angle and the distance.

You guys are all talking about reflections and stuff, while you don't even talk about how the boat is apparently TETHERED to something, when theres nothing around that would make sense to tether it to.

Photoshopped.

are you honestly retarded? (if you really are I apologize for this comment). Go out on a dock and take a picture of the ocean, just because you don't see the dock doesn't mean you are in the middle of the ocean.

When I worked on a cruise ship we stopped at an island called half moon cay (pronounced key) I have seen this very effect with my own two eyes on this island. It is real

If you leave a comment containing the word "photoshopped," be sure you have an understanding of what things actually look like 'in real life.'

All you mother fuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball lickers. Were gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little whiney bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Mirmax Fucks whos makin the movie, were gonna make them eat our shit, then shit out our shit and then eat their shit thats made up of our shit that we made em eat. FAKE!!!
Clear water is fake!!! There's only green and dirty water!!!

fucking idiots...

The water where there would naturally be a reflection is blurred. You can even see the "Shadow" is a LOT darker on a corner where the reflection, again, would naturally be.

Nice try, but it is easy to see things like this if you're lazy. Next time, try a little harder.

May be awesome, but water this clear isn't always a good thing... means there's no algae or seaweed, so nothing for small fish to feed on, nothing for big fish to feed on. Maybe fun for tourists, but not good for the environment.

Anonymous said...

Who cares if it's photoshopped? I'm sure either way that there are places on Earth with natural water this clear.

I think i can answer the whole "refelction" theory.

people have said that this is photoshopped because the refelction of the ball is not the same as the boat.

this is true but look at the ocean floor. it seems to drop abit as in it starts to slop downwards so it causes the boats shadow to bend, thus making it seem as though the shadow is different.

and as for people saying "what is the boat tetherd to" are you stupid. the question you should be asking if you are asking that is "how was the photo taken if there is nothing around?"

the camera man is not floating on water and so there must be something to stand on and so there will be something to tie the boat to.

you may disagree but i know im right :)

This photo looks like a painting, not a photoshopped picture.. also, you couldn't get this effect taking a picture of something in your crystal clear swimming pool.. ever heard of refraction? water has amazing properties no matter how clean it is.

It surley is FAKE. Look at the balls shadow and look at the boats shadow. nuff said. their are either two suns or its a faked pic.

This picture is featured on numerous official French Polynesia sites, so it's definitely not taken on the Maldives, *nor* photoshopped.

Please change the tag to "French Polynesia" instead of "Maldives" (it's completely on the other side of the world) and original poster check your sources:

Who fucking cares, you guys are all fucking retards. get a job.

The shadows underneath are at different angles, last time I checked... there was only one sun. Glad to see I wasn't the only one to notice this.

for the guy who said "May be awesome, but water this clear isn't always a good thing... means there's no algae or seaweed, so nothing for small fish to feed on, nothing for big fish to feed on. Maybe fun for tourists, but not good for the environment."
Your a fool. Reef's are completely nutrient barren, yet there is an abundance of fish and corals. Just because there is no algae doesn't mean everything dies. As a matter of fact, algae blooms kill reefs because of the phosphate blooms and competition.

the picture is not real, people need real picutures, the kind of boat is not being used in the history of Maldives, www.letsgomaldives.com for more information about the Country.

Anonymous said...

the picture is not real. but the article is good

Anonymous said...

please, is there any possibility I can get this pic in a high resolution?

Anonymous said...

ok lets go maldives, it not just bokkuras in the Maldives there are many of these locally build and fiber laminated boats within the atolls.

riyaz is not the only person with balls in maldives.

and for those whose doesn't have even a swimming pool with clear water. look outside your puppeteer box. maldives is still clear with our waters and clean while you may try to destroy the world with your hypocrite democracy and kill all the children in the middle east and in the tribal terrains.
